Sneezy and the Ladybug

When I asked Alistair what he wanted to be for Halloween, he said that he wanted to be a dwarf because I was going to be Snow White.  I wasn't planning on dressing up as Snow White for Halloween, but I had worn the costume in the summer for a party.  I tried to convince him to be a robot, but he really wanted to be a dwarf.  How could I resist my sweet little guy wanting to wear a costume that coordinated with his mom's.

I couldn't find a dwarf costume, but after looking at pictures of Sneezy from the movie and books, I decided to use a patter for button down pajamas.

Sneezy isn't exactly fat, but he also isn't as slim as my little guy, so I made a little belly suit to go under the costume.  I rescued a long sleeved shirt from the donation bin and sewed a scrap piece of fabric to the inside front (sewing at the sides and hem), creating a large pocket. I then stuffed the shirt with fiber fill and sewed the pocket shut just below his armpits.  He thought the shirt was pretty funny. I made the jacket longer than than the pajama pattern.  I added felt patches at the elbows.  He wore a belt too, but we forgot it the day we took the picture above.

I made a felt hat, and made a pick ax out of a saran wrap tube, a piece of foam, and some felt.

Charlotte's ladybug costume was made from Simplicity pattern 0550.  I made the antennae out of a black headband, black pipe cleaners, and two red puff balls.
